beerdoctor Posted November 30, 2013 Share Posted November 30, 2013 I need new struts. I'm already running a slightly larger tire size than stock and they rub when turning sharp. I'm assuming outback struts will do the trick? Do I need to get new springs, mounts, etc...? What years and models work for the swap? I appreciate any help and advice! AdventureSubaru Posted November 30, 2013 Share Posted November 30, 2013 Welcome to the board! Any of the 96-99 Legacy Outback struts will be a direct bolt in for 1-2 inches of lift. The front struts/springs from a 2000-2004 outbacks are also the same but not the rears. You can get another inch or so using Forester Struts/springs. Do a few searches on here, members rides and in the off road section. It's been done many times with great results and plenty of before and after pics and some good write ups. ivans imports Posted November 30, 2013 Share Posted November 30, 2013 I put outback struts in my 98 outback sport the rear pattern on top was diferent so I sloted the holes had to bang the body in slightly on rear to fronts drop in lifted it about 3 inchs with the biger tires On the rear I had to use trailing arrn front bracket from outback to get arm to drop and get alinment right Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A set of 4 struts(sensen 1640) A set of rear springs (moog 6435), front and rear strut mounts (I'm assuming this is what you are calling tophats?).
