nipper
The 2005 Outback (He doesnt have a name yet but he is growing on me) has a leaking PS rack, seals are tired. I was wondering (as someone probably has done it out there in roo land) can I put in a rack grom a GT if I stumble acrosss one. I see no reason why not. idosubaru
Compare rack bushings on opposed forces - if they're the same part numbers then that's a good sign. Might be able to compare other part numbers too - steering fluid lines, crossmember, tie rods...which are probably all the same. The ujoint/steering coupler will differ as the Outbacks are longer, but same splined shaft count. I think the only main difference between EJ racks and old generation 80's Subaru's, which can also interchange steering rack bushings, is the angle of the valve where it protrudes to connect with the steering column ujoint. that won't be different across EJ's. nipper
Well this is the first one for the 05. With 188K on it it is due, and leaking, and stinking up the car.
Fairtax4me
Which seals are leaking? Exterior or interior? O rings on the feed and return lines like to leak and are cheap and easy to replace.
nipper
If it was O rings it would have been fixed Drivers side boot.
