Subaru_dude
And now it's a 4 speed. Just great. What rpms should I expect to run on the interstate? This car will be seeing alot of 70mph... Edited December 15, 2013 by Subaru_dude
Idasho
I believe the gear ration of 4th gear int he 4-speed is actually a touch taller than 5th gear int eh 5-speed. That means your RPMs should be slightly lower at speed with the 4-speed than the 5-speed.
81EA81
That really depends on tire size, and what year of car the transmission came from. It may only apply to 4x4 tranmissions, but I believe the earlier 80-82 4 speeds had lower gearing. I know there is a transmission gearing table floating around here somewhere. I can take a guess and say you will be running around 3,500-4000rpm Edited December 16, 2013 by 81EA81
Subaru_dude
Just took it for a ride on the interstate. It's geared exactly like a five speed... without fifth gear. Which totally sucks because I work an hour and a half away.... NOT FUN.
