joenovosel Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 My Subaru died on me. I replaced the battery accidently letting the cables touch and spark on the wrong terminals. Since this I have no power. No fuses blown. Lights don't come on. When I turn the key I get nothing at all. Cables are tight and correct. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
joenovosel Posted December 22, 2013 Author Share Posted December 22, 2013 Also the rectangle box behind the battery was acting weird I bumped it and it made a click then I had power. The lights came on. I held it down just a little and it clicked then there was power. Now there is nothing no matter if I move the box or not. SS_Subi Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 So I'm sure you've already checked these things so forgive me if I sound condescending . 1) Did you check the fuses for continuity (not just a visual check)? 2) Did you look for any blown fusible links? These should be checked with a multimeter for continuity too. 3) Are the battery cable terminals in good shape? Any corrosion or carbon build up from shorting can prevent it the cables from conducting. If all of these check out ok I would take a test light and check for power at the fuse block. If you find that you have no power at the fuse block start tracing your way back to the battery to see where the break in the circuit is. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Cougar Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 You have most likely blown a fusible link out. Look for a small plastic box near the battery area. The links should be inside it. Cougar Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Well hopefully you haven't damaged the wiring by replacing the link with a piece of wire. You should never replace a fuse with a piece of normal wire. If there was damaged caused it is already done. See if the engine will fire up using some starter fluid sprayed into the intake. If that doesn't help check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs. You might also check all the fuses to see if any of them are blown out also. joenovosel Posted December 22, 2013 Author Share Posted December 22, 2013 I have to have one ordered. I checked it seems I've got juice to the coil and coil wire at the cap. It still doesn't fire. SS_Subi Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 If it was running before installing the new battery and shorting it out you have something else more then likely causing it not to get fuel… WIll it fire when you spray starting fluid, carb spray, or some fuel in the intake?? I happen to have quite afew fuseable links in my collection, Im sure I can throw one or two in an envelope and sent 'em your way. Which color happened to burn out? The red one in the center?
