ea82 turbo leak?

Recommended Posts

I have an '87 1/2 Gl Turbo and after I took the intake off I noticed some dirty looking oil that appears to be coming from either the turbos intake side or maybe the small hose on intake right before the turbo

Its not losing any noticeable amount of oil or coolant

Can seals or bearings be replaced by disassembling turbo?

The breather tube from the top of the right side camtower cover, draws oily air into the intake air stream before that air goes through the turbo. The breather tube from the left side camtower cover, goes through the pcv valve, and is drawn into the intake air after that air goes through the turbo. If you have a compressed air leak in your intake system after the turbo, your engine will fall flat on it's face. I have the same oil in the intake that you have, and it has no oil leak.

The turbos are 'non serviceable', they say. I've never taken one of these apart myself, but I would imagine with the proper tools, seals could be changed. You would have to have them matched up by someplace like Kaman industrial or some such supplier.
