Spankytaco
Alright, First off. Ive been spending the last 2 years rebuilding a 92 3000gt so I am not afraid to tear into something... Im just trying to figure out if its worth it. Little history and info on the car... Its a 2005 legacy wagon... from what i understand its a 2.5 non turbo with an automatic transition. It has 40k on it and from what i can tell the engine and all driveline stuff is alright. the car was hit in the front and then rolled so theres no fixing it. Im wondering if I should part it, find a roller or sell it to a subaru shop for around 1500$. I have the space to store the motor, tranny and all that stuff then dump the frame and stuff at the scrap yard... Just not sure its worth trying to do... Also, the interior is spotless and im sure its worth something. Just looking for some suggestions on what to do with it. Its taking up space on the trailor and in the yard... Need to do something. 92_rugby_subie
I would part out... or find another shell and swap stuff into that and then sell the lesser of the good things and you have yourself some decent transportation and some cash from selling. I love the 05-09 legacy body style... id daily drive an NA one.
Fairtax4me
You could get $1500 for the engine around here. If you have the room, pull everything that's still good and sell it. Classifieds on the various Subaru forums will get you some attention. There's always craigslist but sometimes that's more of a hassle than its worth. idosubaru
parting out can be a pain. you'll get people interested...wanting pictures, asking questions, condition, mileage, previous owner, smoker, pets, kids, more questions, low balling...then they'll back out and never buy. or then they'll want shipping cheaper or to meet, you arrange it, it doesn't work out. it can be a lot of work and annoying. i'd first see if you can find local (non-shipping) sale for the engine since it's most valuable and then go from there. then decide if you want to deal with smaller items. if you're intersted in shipping then list in the parts wanted forum here and subaruoutback.org (since lots of suspension, drivetrain, transmission, engine, interior largely interchange)
