wldc4t
Hello from Alaska. I'm new to this forum but not to Subaru. I've owned 4 cars in my life, the first was a 1995 legacy wagon 5 speed. I loved that car. It was a hand me down that my step dad purchased originally and, eventually gave it to my step sister who drove it until she bought something else. There it sat, next to the shed for a couple years until I could drive. I learned so much with that car. I got my hands on it with 230k on the clock (probably thousands more as the speedo stopped working for a while,) and trust me it needed love. I swapped the clutch the transmission, the engine, the suspension, (gasps for air) anything major that could break eventually did and I had to fix it myself. My step dad is really great. He had to patience to teach an impatient (and broke) teenager how how to fix things yourself and save scratch doing it. I had that car for several years until it eventually died on me again. So there it sat, next to the shed. I bought a 1989 chevy 2500 pickup. I loved that truck but I never enjoyed driving it like I did my legacy, and eventually a head gasket went. I fixed it up, then fixed the legacy. Sold em both and decided to step up my game Living in Alaska cars get a lot of abuse so when I got out of college my present to myself was a trip back to Utah, (where I'm from originally from) and a new car. Buying a car online was very stressful but, I found my 2002 wrx in the classifieds on NASIOC. I got comfortable with the owner talking on the telephone, and my parents were in Utah at the time so they went and test drove it for me. It got a positive report and the deal was done. The drive up the Alcan highway to Alaska was so fun, especially in such a peppy car. Plenty of hairpins, straightaways, and curves for days ...literally. Ive owned it since 2010 and still get that grin on my face every time I drive it. A couple of weeks ago I found something I have always wanted since I was a little kid. Ever since I saw those seats in the bed of a little pickup truck. I bought my brat. It wouldn't start when I bought it. I had to push start it. Theres a long story with the car, but the guy I bought it from owned it for one day. It ran when he bought it, the next day it didnt. I found I could drive it by jumping the 12v to the solenoid and it worked for the time being. However It ended up dieing on me and I pulled an ignition pulse system code. Through research of this issue and trouble shooting some electrical I came upon this forum, specifically this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/102098-brat-ignition-problem/ I bought a new distributor and it fixed the problem. I love this car so dang much. It is like comparing apples to oranges I know, but both my wrx and brat put an equally big smile on my face. Thanks for the help already provided and I hope I can share some input with all of you. -Wldc4t Edited February 23, 2014 by wldc4t
