Rinker1989
We'll I got good news and bad about the new brat I picked up the other day. I got her started and she runs ok did not sound to bad that's the good news the bad is that I checked compression and on one cylinder the compression is very low only 20 to 25 psi going to look into this tomorrow any ideas where I should start firsts? BratRod
It's been sitting. Could be stuck rings. If not, then probably head gasket.
junk250
Hello, I would start by adjusting the valves on the bad cylinder. A tight valve will cause low compression. Hope this helps !
bertmann73
i would say gummed up rings also. usually when i get a motor thats been sitting i shoot wd40 down the plug hole and let it sit for a while....could also be a broken ridge and ring as the ea71 are notorious for that. my 78 had a broken piston ridge and ring and was runnin that way for who knows how long until i tore the engine down and noticed,
