ennbenn72 Posted March 9, 2014 Share Posted March 9, 2014 Hey everybody! I am now a member of the Subaru family. I bought myself an '89 GL for $300 about a month ago and its been great! I had to put a new set of timing belts in it and a water pump, but that's done now and its running great. I just had a question about possibly retrofitting some newer 5 lug suby spindles on it so I can get some normal rims... Is this way easier? Or is drilling it like I've read about on here easier? Tat2Brat Posted March 9, 2014 Share Posted March 9, 2014 ea82 engine right? well drilling it is much cheaper thats for sure and a 5 lug swap does include quite a bit of work. I'd ask yourself how long do you plan on keeping this vehicle? I've only swapped a 86 xt turbo from four to 5 lug and I if i had the chance to do on any future vehicles I will own I'd pass a bunch of money later you still have a car worth.... not a whole lot I think non turbo might be even harder to convert but maybe not one thing is the spline count on the half shafts are different from GL and GL-10 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
