bratman2
You can try Sachs if you can find them in the UK. They make front struts for a Brat. Loyal struts are not inner changeable with a Brat to my knowledge.

bratman18
I put loyale struts in my brat. I actually drilled new holes and used the entire assembly, top hat and all.
Uberoo
81-84 leone and 81+ brats and 80+ hatchbacks all have the same suspension. If you go to a junkyard all of the older subarus that are "round" will interchange.Square bodies like the loyale don't have quite the same suspension.
jono
Is the spare parts network in the UK for the dealers good enough to be able to ask them for a price on 721032064 to get them in from the motherland. I bought a pair of same ambidextrous number in last 18 months from a convict land based Sube dealer - about the A$170 ea come with factory adjusters, fit right in, satin black and give nice ride

bratman2
Nice Brat, looks like a solid top. Is it dark blue or black?
skishop69
Nice. I would kill for a RHD Brat.
ScoobyBrat
It's a dark blue for now, but will be a different colour once I've done everything, Needs more welding underneath, engine is sweet as a nut, gearbox linkage needs looking at. I'm hoping to fit a legacy 5 speed gearbox in but they are very rare over here. I've got brand new rear shock absorbers to fit, I'm wanting new front shockers and calipers. Wheel adapters to change the lug pattern, as it has 4/140 on and can't get any wheels at all to fit, New interior, then that's it ha ha skishop69 they are getting very rare over here as they rot away with weather etc
bratman2
Ironic that you asked about suspensions as I started on my 87 Brat yesterday. I have Sachs struts and KYB Gas Adjust rear shocks to mount. Also strut rod bushings and control arm bushings. Seems the control arm bushings are being a bit of a pain in the butt. I bought my 87 back in 1997 and have grown rather fond of it! Good luck on your search! They are rare in North Carolina also. Most were in the mountains and road salt ate them away. I have not seen another on the road here in at least 3 or 4 years. Another option is Rock Auto in the USA. They show shipping to the UK. Will cost you I am sure but may be your only option for new!! You can also look up discount codes for 10% off and such. Edited April 4, 2014 by bratman2
ScoobyBrat
Bratman2 Thanks for the link, they have everything apart from front shocks
bratman2
You need front struts, not shocks. They list them for 1987 and down. Should be the same for a 1994. I don't believe anything changed did it? That is were I got my Sachs struts from and they still show 4 in stock. They are cheaper options also, Monroe and A.C. Delco.
ScoobyBrat
Nice one bud, I missed them, gonna order two
bratman2
Don't forget to search for a discount code also!!!! Looks like the Monroe for the 4whl drives has sold out and they list a two wheel drive strut, don't know why they list that under a Brat. So it looks like your choices are A.C. Delco or Sachs. I just finished one side of my Brat and will fore warn you if you buy the Sachs they are ever so slightly bigger in diameter and a bugger bear to install. You may want to consider replacing your strut rod bushings also. Mine were pretty compressed and cracked up. This allows your control arm to flex rearward a little. They are not that expensive or hard to install. Your Brat being 7 years newer maybe fine just the same though. Good luck!!
ScoobyBrat
I've found some at auto parts warehouse and they are nearly half the price. Have you heard of this company and are they any good bratman2 Again thanks for your help David
bratman2
Name sounds familiar. May take month for them to get to England regardless of who you get them from. Make sure to cross reference the part number you are buying!!! You don't want to have to ship them back because they don't fit. I usually buy online parts as if I was buying for a 84 Brat. Helps to reduce the confusion between EA82 parts and EA81 parts.
ScoobyBrat
Bratman2 do you know the part numbers
bratman2
The Gabriels on Auto Parts Warehouse are the correct number. They are the same as the ones I just took off my Brat. Had them for about 15-16 years. They did pretty good.

bratman2
Good for you!!! England doesn't have junk Peugeot 504/505 sedans laying around! Just an after note, for some reason the passenger side Sachs strut fell right in with little effort. The strut rod bushings were easy, the control arm bushings were a major pain in the butt. Took longer to do them than rear wheel bearings. If you decide to change out your control arm bushings let me know and I will share what I learned. I would pull the control arm, that is easy enough, and look at them while you are in there anyways. Then if they look okay leave them!!
