Goatboy
Front diff ran dry and stranded a friend of mine in her 1989 GL Sedan. Its at a shop here in Portland but they can't find a tranny for it. Anyone in the Pacific NW, can you help? Its got to be a known good Tranny! Thank you, GoatBoy

Hondasucks
I have a good tranny, but it's a 2WD tranny :-( Maybe they can swap the diff with the 4WD tranny? Only 4WD tranny I have has the same problem :-(

Goatboy
How hard is it to swap the front diff guts out on this Auto Tranny? Is it worth the money I'll save? Or would be a pain and might as well just yank the whole thing and then put in an entire used tranny assembley? I can get a used Tranny for $650 or the Front Diff guts for $250 I just don't know if it is going be more headache than its worth to just swap the Front Diff guts. GeneralDisorder
I'm sure we could find a cheaper tranny than that. I know some JY's that are pretty cheap..... 650 sounds expensive to me. If she wants, I'll do the manual conversion for pretty cheap... cheaper than a shop for sure. Heck - I'll put in the automatic if we find one for cheap too.... only take me half a day. PM me. As for swapping the front diff guts....doesn't look like an easy job. You could attempt to pull the front diff out of a JY car just as an experiment, then you would have a cheap diff, and the knowledge to pull it and replace it....
