rdweninger
If you go zip tie, I have heard that the exhaust heat will make the ties brittle after some time. I have my exhaust wrapped and my boots zip tied on one rig. On other Soobs, I have stainless steel safety wire.... it won't rust. Zip ties going strong for 2 years now. idosubaru
others have said don't buy "cheap chinese" zipties for this use. i'm not sure if it matters or if you can even buy non-chinese plastic stuff any more though. LOL
two85s
lol.....I ordered the boots (4 DOJ), and 2 each (2 large-2 small) of the metal "clamps" from Subaru dealer. I will reuse the roll pins. I have a snap ring pliers already. I was thinking about the zipties "baking", aging, getting hit bye a sharp rock, etc and decided to use the Subaru steel clamps. So I have never taken rear axles out of rear wheels. Any special trick? I have FSM for 1985 so I will be reading them too. I have to get the new grease still and a clamp tool (cable tie gun?) like has been talked about in the thread for the clamps. Thanks for the input guys!
