Subisavvy
Hello! I have been lurking on these forums for quite a while now, and I often find what I need. This forum is great! There is one thing, however, that I can't seem to find. So I have a 98 legacy outback, and of course, the 2.5 went kaput (I know, you're surprised!) Well, I want to put a 2.2 in it, and I know anything from 95-98 is pretty much plug-n-play. I have someone offering me a 2001 2.2 out of an Impreza with 120K on it for 250. From the little bit of information that I have found, this is a difficult swap from generation 1 to generation 2. I was hoping that maybe you guys on here could enlighten me on this swap a little bit before I turn this motor down, as it is very difficult to find a 2.2 with low miles. I'm sorry if this information is on here and I missed it Thank you so much!!

TallonX
It all bolts together it's just the wiring can become a nuisance, mainly changes in plug styles for componentry, coil on the impreza for example is a 4 wire, yours is a 3 I believe, not sure what all else may be different but it's all electrical
