My mileage has gone to pot, and when turning to the right, it will stumble, miss, buck, and fart. Only when turning right tho. It has a fresh tune up on it, with maybe 100mi. Including all filters. As for the mileage it went from 300mi/ tank to like 200. The car is all original, including the carby. I dont have the drive to swap a $300 weber on to a $500 car, so thats not an option. Besides, the body is way too rusty to invest much money into it. I love my hatchy, but i cant drive it with it trying to cut out like that. My luck is it'll die and not start back! Assuming we're talking about a Hitachi, the main jets are on the passenger side of the fuel bowl or right side as I think you are referring. If the fuel level in the bowl is low (float adjustment), then when you take a right turn the fuel gets "pushed" so to speak, to the left side of the bowl. This can cause momentary fuel starvation because there isn't enough fuel over the jets. $30 for a Hitachi rebuild kit, $20 for a Haynes manual that will take you through the procedure. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
naru Posted April 25, 2014 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Since cash is an issue, a lot times you do not need a carb kit to reset the float level. The trick is to remove the carb top w/o breaking the gasket.Not always possible. A break at a non-strategic location(not a vacuum passage) is not terminal. I did not buy a carb kit in order to do the last few that I have done. I would change BOTH fuel filters before even checking fuel level.
