ystrdyisgone
Recently picking up a leggy wagon with somewhat low miles makes me wonder if I can just swap the entire subframe over. My 5 sp D/R is definitely more worn than the 5 sp in the legacy. I know the D/R is great, but I think I used it like 5 times in the last year. I understand I would have to swap the ea82 tophats onto the front struts of the ej suspension, but not sure the control arms will mount up. As well as having to figure out something for the rear suspension.. But the legacy has disc brakes on all four, and lower miles. Just sounds good to me... I tried searching around for 3 hours last night and didn't come up with much at all..
987687
Why not just drive the legacy?
ystrdyisgone
I asked myself the same question actually... ha. It's pretty rusty, doesn't have a title, were the only reasons I came up with. Oh, and I'm quite attached to my ol wagon. ystrdyisgone
Well, I got off my rump roast and onto my back to have a look under the legacy. Looks to be too many differences that are beyond my fabricating skills :/ Mods can delete this thread
Crazyeights
The rusted old Legacy is the perfect donor car to EJ22 swap your old GL. It's worth it IMO if you can do most of the labor yourself. Having access to the Leg during the swap will save trips to the yard. Or just sell it on... Good luck!
Gloyale
You can use the Engine and Trans and rear diff. Everthing else would need fabrication. I have a EJ22 and an AWD 4.11 5spd in my 86........Had to make a custom crossmember (modified GL front piece,Legacy center, Flatbar steel rearpiece) And I needed a front driveline section 2" shorter than stock GL. Use GL turbo axles.
92loyale59
you should be able to use the legacy front hubs, brakes and springs and ball joints you just need to reem out the EA 82 control arms ball joint holes . Then you can use the EJ axles also . just need to split the tranny and change to the legacy stubs. or just use the legacy tranny Edited May 4, 2014 by 92loyale59
ystrdyisgone
Sweet, thanks for the info guys! I'm sure I'll have many more questions as I dive into this swap. Also, I appreciate everyone's patience with me as I'm sure I'll be asking questions that have been asked before. I do indeed search, and use google and all that fun stuff but I can never seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.
