1987 subaru GL wagon

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im.. new? to a subaru? I just got an 87 subaru GL wagon from a friend which we had rebuilt probably close to 10 years ago? i knew hardly anything about cars but its almost 50k miles old on rebuild and webber and still starts in one crank. the only problem is it has no power. no torque. shifts really bad. what i need to know is what would i have done wrong ten years ago to  ruin the car? it  sat for 5+ years before we rebuilt it and has sat another years since. when we rebuilt the car and swtiched to webber we just took off every sensor and vaccum except the brake booster basically (a few have been added since, but probably not right). i know there are still some vaccum lines haggin from the tranny that  go no where and vaccum line comming through the firewall that go no where. is there a write up that  could tell me what  needs to go where and what i need to do with what line and electrical connectors? i have been searching and cant find anythin good. its and EA82 I can post pics tomorrow to better show the lines and connectors and such if that would help. i just dont think it should be this bad from what ive seen in videos of  the lifted webber subbys out there. any help with bve greatly appreiceated.

Vacuum leaks can kill power to any motor. Sort that out and you've probably fixed your problem.

Having sat for a while, you should probably give it a good seafoam treatment. New spark plugs are always a healthy option and check your fuel lines/filter to make sure theres not crud coming from the tank and blocking the flow.

Those should be good starting points for the car you've described.
