Engine management light (lambda sensor)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have changed the lambda sensor on my subaru impreza wrx 2006 bugeye after reading fault code which said "bank one" was the one to change.

I purchased a universal one on eBay and I have cleared the fault so it reads no faults but engine management light is still on.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Brian

Here a possible clue to the problem. Is it wired EXACTLY right? Why wasn't a direct fit unit selected instead? Is it the same code as before?

I believe so the colours were different but I found a link which said,

Current sensor. Blue - signal to ECU, white - ground, black x2 - heater.

Universal sensor. White x2 - heater, grey - ground, black - signal to ECU.

So, blue to black, white to grey, black to white, black to white.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Brian

If the CEL (Check Engine Light) is still on the car's computer must think there's still a problem--maybe something other than the O2 sensor.  Did you check for codes again after you installed the new sensor?

What brand sensor did you use?  How did you connect the wires--solder?  Crimp?  Some kind of "connector box" provided by the manufacturer?  Does the car seem to be running better (or at least okay!) with the new sensor installed?

Hi Olnick,

Yes. I plugged it in and cleared the code. Tried it several times after and it was reading no errors.

The make is ZIRCONIA I believe, a connector box was used. Car is running fine haven't noticed any change.

Is there any other way to clear it? E.g turning eginition on and pushing the brake? I've just heard of weird ways of doing things like resetting service light etc.

Thanks

Brian

Sorry Brian, I don't know of any secret handshakes.  You might try disconnecting the battery for an hour or two, see what happens.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with ideas.  Good luck.
