Ac clutch removal on 93 loyale

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to remove the ac clutch on my 93 Loyale. I have searched USMB and Google and found nothing. I had put in a rebuilt compressor about a year + ago and it was working great, for 3mo. Then it started making some rattling noises and then it progressively got worse and began to squeal, Compressor would turn then catch and rotate, and catch. To the point I could not use it anymore. I don't have leak, have tested with gauge. If I get the info I'm looking for can I remove the clutch and replace without decompressing the system? Oh by the way the shop that put it in is now out of business....

Dumb question??? Or just replace the whole compressor???

* I forgot to add that the ground wire going to the clutch broke off from the inside. So I was thinking if I can get it part, I could see what is going on.*

Are you sure it's the compressor pulley?

I've had the idler pulley bearing seize before, which gave me the same result & wore out the belt so it couldn't be tightened enough, and also caused the belt to drag

Yeah, the idler pully is in ggod shape, replaced that bearing a while ago. I'm thinking it has something to do with the clutch/magnet? I can grab the wires that go into gap between the pulley and compressor and move it back and forth.
