mbMA
I have a 2008 Outback 2.5 liter engine and I'm going to start changing the oil myself to save a little money. I bought the car used and I don't have an owners manual. (Is there someplace I can download a manual?) What oil should I use and what type of oil filter? spazomatic
Not saying this is the best stuff out there; i use mobil1 synthetic 5w-30 and Wix filters (Napa Gold)
Fairtax4me
Ive been running purolator filters on my car for a long time. I buy 5w-30 Valvoline at Walmart and get filters at the parts store. I buy 2-3 filters at a time since I have multiple cars using the same filter.

rverdoold
The only thing I found nasty is the oil filter is now cramped in between the exhaust pipes and O2 sensors (2.5 non turbo EU). The 1.6 was so much easier to work on. I use 5w-40 but I think it makes no big difference with 5w-30.
