Bobby1956
I have a 2011 Outback 2.5 i Premium with 229,000 miles almost all highway miles. After returning from a business trip the everything seemed fine. When I got back in the car a few hours later, the check engine light came on, the AT Oil Temp light was flashing, cruise control light flashing, brake light flashing and vehicle traction control light was on. I tool it to my mechanic and he deduced that the ECU was not communicating with my transmission and I would have to take it to a Subaru dealer to be fixed (by the way, the car seems to be running fine and shifting properly). The dealership said the AT needed to be flushed several times because it was dirty and causing the solenoid to not operate properly. I told them the fluid was changed not to long ago and Subaru transmission fluid was used. After flushing it once they then told me I needed a new transmission. My mechanic still believes it's a software issue but is not sure how to resolve it as he doesn't have the equipment to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts about how to resolve this? Fairtax4me
Certainly seems like an electrical issue to me. I don't think its an issue of modules communicating. Did the dealer tell you which code(s) was set? There used to be a way to have the codes display on the dash, not sure if they kept that feature on the 2011 models.
