The Scooby
well ive really noticed that my car really kind lacks on the top end, like once i hit 45mph it doesn't really pull hard, it will go on a flat part from 60 to 70 in like 5 seconds, but i dunno, hills are my worst enemy. what could i do to help, help the engine breath better by better exhaust, 1 7/8's inch from the heads to a 2inch Y-pipe, to a cherrybomb to a 2 1/4inch tip. since my cat is rusted through badly i need exhaust anyways. also port the intake, since i am rebuilding the hitachi soon also. anything else you can think of?? Turbone
Did this just happen after the drags at PIR? It could be your timing is off.
WJM
THe timing not being advanced enough would cause a lack in top end.
oddcomp
timing was mentioned vacum leak weak coil crappy wires rusty cat? umm maybe plugged as well that will kill top end plugged airfilter the fact you are rebuilding the hicrappy i would think maybe its leaning out? i dunno bout the hitachi's don't they have a secondary type thing? maybe its not opening? northguy
When I saw the title of this thread, I thought maybe you were talking about some of my old girlfriends.
nutt7
northguy, how old were your girlfriends? give them time! jk scooby, I would do a larger exh, bottom end may be sacrificed a tad, but top end should benefit pretty well. A good intake is a must too...use mandrel bends wherever you can
WoodsWagon
Have you cut the bottom out of the airbox yet? it might help a bit. And northguy, if she's under 18 its considered rape in many states
The Scooby
from the factory it came with a whole in the bottom of the airbox, sorry im bein an rump roast... its carb.
archemitis
ya its just a low hp car. that glass pack will help, you can make a cold air intake with a mpfi snorkel, it clamps onto the top of the carb, then put a big rump roast cone filter on the end.
