Gwywnc
Hi, so my carb on my 1984 subaru gl is junk and sometimes it idles high and sometimes it idles slow. Anyway when running the A/C and coming to a stop it will kill the engine so I would turn A/C off then back in when I start moving again. Well the other day I turned it off and it wouldn't come back on... There are no fuses blown, I hooked 12v battery directly to the blower and it ran, I figured it could only be the A/C relay so I replaced it and still the A/C won't come on... Can someone give me some advise on how to fix this? Thank you
Dee2
Look thru the electrical diagrams to identify all switches and relays. One of them is toast. Maybe the switch to turn on the AC is out.
Gwywnc
I don't have a electrical diagram. I have researched it and I thought that there was just a fuse in the fuse box and a relay under the hood. Can anyone tell me were the other fuses or relays are? Gwywnc
Can anyone give me some advice on what other relays or fuses I need to check? Recap: no fuses are blown, the a/c blower works when connected straight to a 12 battery, replaced the relay under the hood... Thanks

Gwywnc
I have checked and rechecked fuses, I have taken the relays apart and checked them, the only thing I can think of is that the main switch has went out. Can someone give me some advise on the easyest way to get those switches out? Will I need to take the whole dash out? Is there anything else I should look for? Gwywnc
Problem solved! There are fuses n the fuse box and there are relays under the hood AND there is a round glass fuse under the steering wheel bottom cover, I found it by accident. I had tried everything I could possibly think of and had already said F it, winter is coming. So I was stuffing the wires up so I could put the cover back on when the A/C came on! So I crawled under there and dug until I found it and it wasn't blown it was just not making a good connection, I twisted it and it works fine now. Makes me wonder what else has hidden fuses?!?
