I didn't want to mess with a rebuild kit because I already have the other starter in my parts car. The starter is just dead

a used suabru starter is WAY better than anything from the parts store.

I agree, mostly, but it's faster to get part numbers from the aftermarket than from the dealers.

Different point. John's trying to steer its_masters to a Subaru starter (used OEM) rather than a new unit from the auto parts store that is some lesser brand.
