PLAYLIFE
Hello everyone!I am new here. I got my Subaru 6 months ago. Its 2009 1.5 AWD. Its very nice and I enjoy the ride. I love my car! But I have noticed the lag it has, and the laziness since its a 107bhp. I was wondering is there any way you can add 10-20bhp (which I hope are enough to fix it) without destroying the engine (installing a turbo or something). I need an honest advice. Thanks! jmoss5723
Dang. I didn't even realize Subaru made a 1.5L engine. That makes my Brat's 1.8L seem HUGE! Sorry I can't offer much in the way of help. I learned something today though!
Rooster2
Probably not much you can do to increase horse power with a 1.5 litre engine. A basic tune up with new spark plugs and plug wires may help, also replacing the fuel filter may help. There is just no magic to get an extra 30 or 40 hp with your motor. I would also increase tire pressure to 35 psi. Car rides a little rougher, but will have less rolling resistance. tires last longer too.

Could you please point me out which type of spark plugs and plug wires are high quality and right for it? Once I had Renault 4, and bought Magnetti Marelli sparks )))
Rooster2
Your car owner's manual should list recommended brand and spark plug part number. Buy expensive plug wires, not the cheap ones, as they won't perform well, or last long.
rverdoold
The 1.5 was/is sold in EU and probably elsewhere to compete with high fuel economy competitors. Best performance boost on that car would be: Keep the air filter clean (but not one with bigger holes = high pass filter) Keep the gaps and performance of the spark-plugs good (replace with NGK every 30k KM since they are cheap anyway. AC is the biggest power taker if it is on. Power steering does not take that much, maybe under drive the PS pump. For the rest there is not much you can do (except De-cat which is illegal).
