Joelandmich
Hello All I have a heater problem on my 85 gl wagon. The air only comes out of the vents and none out of the defrost or floor. My guess is it is a vacuum problem, but can't find any loose vacuum lines under the hood or any that go towards the firewall. Does this system run on vacuum or some other way? Any help is appreciated.
djellum
the selector for the vents are vacuum. there is a hose going to the motor from a canister on the passenger side firewall. check if the hoses are connected and that the canister doesn't leak. there are lines on the back of the button selector, which I assume go to the heater core area, but I haven't torn it down past the button control unit myself. Joelandmich
Thanks for your reply. I may have to go to my local junk yard to see what this setup is supposed to look like as my car has had almost every vacuum line plugged and may not even have a vacuum canister anymore. This car has a interesting history!
scoobiedubie
Thanks for your reply. This car has a interesting history! As an alternative to you decommissioning your vacuum system, you find a gal who can suck a golf ball through a 10 foot hose, and let her ride shotgun. Joelandmich
Finally figured it out tonight, found the unhooked vacuum line, reattached it at the base of the carb and now have all settings. Now to get a little more heat out of it. The heater hoses are hot (both) heater and defrost are warm, but less warm on the drivers side. Any other suggestions?
