Subinoobi
So I just pulled a d/r from a junkyard and the input shaft bearing is screaming. I really don't want to pay to get it rebuilt and would rather crack the case myself and replace that bearing. I know there a few other things I could do while I'm at it. so are there any writeups, part numbers, and tips on this subject? Thanks!
l75eya
I would love to read something about that myself too. I've never come across anything but maybe someone else knows of one.
Ibreakstuff
It's all in the factory service manual, in great detail with part numbers. Book #2 (section 2 and 3) is what you want, covers the engine and transmission.
MilesFox
Well if you take the trans apart, do a write up on it. As for a write up to exist, someone would have had to take the time to post it to the internet.
Txakura
This would be a great write up, I don't know the specifics of the factory manual. Years, models, publication date... of where I'd find a 25+ year old service manual. LOL Miles, I could do a write up on what not to do. My write up would be the first two-three common mistakes followed by a copy of the invoice from the local transmission shop. (making fun of myself here) Edited August 24, 2014 by Txakura

Subinoobi
Well doing a writeup the first time ever cracking a trans kind of scares me haha. I actually found this thread today that will definitely help me, maybe it will help others too. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/87305-easy-transmission-front-seal-replacement/
Crazyeights
This thread will get you through it ^^^. It is well written and has good photos too. From here all you really need IMO for a "rebuild" is the ability to press the gears and bearings on and off their respective shafts.
