sambog
This is my first Subaru and my first hybrid. The best I had so far was 40 mpg last weekend with 40% freeway and 60% local road. I keep my speed consistent on freeway and almost very flat for 12 miles. My average mileage to work and back home is around 35 mpg. What is the best mpg you had for the Subaru XV hybrid? I am curious if anyone has better luck than myself.
unibrook
To help folks compare.....I just did a 360 mile weekend trip in my 2014 regular non-hybrid Crosstrek Premium with 13k miles on her. It was mostly easy, light traffic highway driving. I got over 36 mpg for the trip. Spinning 1800 rpm at 65 mph. Sweet. I am loving the CVT, although you do have to get used to how it behaves when accelerating etc. The more irritating thing to get used to is the steering at highway speeds. I dunno if it is the electric power steering motor or what, but you have to constantly adjust the wheel to keep the car tracking straight at highway speeds. And it takes a bit of work with the hand, not just a one finger gentle type of adjustment. This is only an issue at highway speed, you will not notice it around town. Subaru will give you one free alignment. Try that. I added a 20 mm rear sway for under a hundred bucks from the dealership and it handles way better. I never get over 35 mpg, I drive too fast.
