gmac
Hi everyone, newbie here, owner of a 1998 forester with 118000 miles, last week the check engine light came on and i took it to advanced auto for them to read the code. came back as P0122 guy said it could be the TPS or spark plugs going bad. car was running ok except it did have a high idle around 1400 or so. I ordered a TPS and installed it today , before removing the old one i disconnected the battery, as soon as i started the car the AT OIL TEMP LIGHT started flashing immediately and i still have the high idle. any comments or suggestions regarding these two issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gerard.
ocei77
Generally your high idle is caused by your IACV . You should clean it thoroughly. (Do search on forum). The flashing may be connected or not.. If it flashes 16 times, there is a fault stored in the tranny ecu. (do search for how to read ) O.
upnorthguy
I popped a code a few weeks ago for a high idle related to the IACV. I tried to clean it without taking it apart (using Seafoam) which was the easier first option. That didn't clear the code/clean it enough so I ended up removing it and giving it a thorough cleaning. That cleared my code and eliminated the high idle. There are some good threads around on this and a few decent videos on youtube.
