I just put pug 14's on a month ago with 185 70 14's. No issues. I could put on 195 70 14's with no issues. I have no lift. 1982 Brat.

I have 185/75/14 on my 87 wagon.. No lift, no rubbing.. No problems... its a 25 inch tire.. stock tire is 23 inch. you don't need to worry about a lift or fender trimming until you hit 26inch or larger on an EA82 car .. Although I probably wouldn't go over 25 inches with a 2wd EA82 (shorter suspesion.)

Northguy, ,please refrain from telling everyone they need a lift or low profile tires.. its just not true..

I stand corrected, Although I didn't mention anything about a lift. I'd just hate to see someone plop down a bunch of money for some tires and then be disappointed about having to do fender mods due to rubbing problems.

You don't have much choice with wheels unless you're going to redrill. Puegot wheels come in 14 and 15 inch wheel sizes with the same bolt pattern as subbies. See the wheelpage for styles. As for tires, that is all dependent on type of terrain, daily driving...

I say you go as high as you can with rims and tires. Unless you really wanna go big get a lift but if you are just looking for some bigger tires and rims I wouldnt worry about a lift. Archemitis has his hatch pretty darn tall with out a lift (expense, installation and troubleshooting that come with a kit!). Just some rims and tires can really gain you bumper height and overall clearance.

There are several options to get you larger rims and therefore open the doors to better tires. With those 14" or 15" rims you can pretty much have your pick of any make and model tires. Only limiting factor then is your budget! :D

Good luck and glad to have you on the USMB

cool ...so puegot is my only choice of wheel.....any good ideas were i can score some.....but has anybody ever re-drilled wheels and had luck with that.?sparky

You have 3 options.

Pug rims that bolt right on. 14" and 15" aluminum and steel. They come in both 'standard and metric' sizes. So like the metric one is not true 15" so you have to get special metric tires.

Redrilling some 14" rims to your 4x140mm bolt pattern. Toyota makes a 6x140mm pattern so you can use 2 toyota holes and drill 2 new ones.

Finally you can pull the studs and redrill your hubs to a different pattern.

Pick your pioson :)

Call some foreign car dealers in your areas, check local junkyards, look here at the marketplace, but keep on it, you might get real lucky. I did with my Pugs, it took me 3 months of looking, and I found them at a junkyard. Many people have had luck drilling both the wheels and the lug/brake drums to fit different wheels on their soobs, search for a 6 lug conversion.
