SawtoothSubie
Hi everyone- I recently picked up a '92 loyale with 142K and need some help troubleshooting a couple things. 1) Climate controls won't switch from blowing out the front vents. I have checked vacuum lines and traced them. I did find one broken tee near the intake but it didn't solve the problem after I replaced it with a new one dang it! 4WD light remains on and flickers when driving sometimes. I gotta figure this out as the mornings are getting colder here and soon I'll need full on defrost. 2) No turn signals. Nothing. I have checked all bulbs and replaced one front side marker bulb. Dim and bright headlights work. Tail. Reverse. No turns. They don't even light up. I'm out of ideas. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dee2
Could be bad switches for both the defrost and the turn signals
SawtoothSubie
So if a bad defrost "button" am I looking at replacing the whole dash control cluster? Same goes for the turn sig switch lever?
Dee2
Hard to say. Could be corrosion on contacts or bad wiring. Won't know unless they are inspected. If you can, check fuses, continuity on wiring and visual inspection of switches.
Gloyale
Did you inspect the vacuum line where it goes into the cab on the drivers side? Often the rubber line that is in the interior will get pulled off of the hardline that enters the cabin. Up above the brake/clutch pedal with the big cluster that comes in from the cowl. If you are not in 4wd...but the light stays on, it's probably the switch in the trans. They get old gummed up gear oil and debris in them and get stuck....or pushed slightly by the 4wd collar. It's not a big deal to leave it if you can tell when you are in 4wd or not without a functioning light...........or unscrew it from the back of the trans and clean out the debris or worst case replace the switch. It is also possible the adjuster on the cable from the vac. actuator needs to be lengthened just slightly....or is otherwise out of adjustment/ loose in it's bracket. Ussually it's a gummed up switch. Turn signals I would check that the hazard switch is connected. Turn won't work without it.
