roadsubiedog
finished putting in my repaired tranny in yesterday. it seems to shift fine with new Exedy clutch. is there a difference between cable and hydrolic clutches by the feel? my 97 has a cable and it seems much tighter. it works good but there is more resistance in pedal. the 99 has a hydrolic and it to shifts fine but seems softer. it has to be pushed closer to floor to engage clutch. is there an adjustment or do I need to bleed the slave cylinder or system. my fluid container was between the low and full mark and I just added fluid. I only drove it about 5 miles and went thru the gears about 10 times. this morning the fluid was still at the full mark. thanks everyone especially grossgary,fairtax4me, and adventuresubaru for all the help and advice on removing and installing my tranny. nipper
it is possible that your hydraulics are worn out, its not unheard of to see one get tired with a clutch. First thing I would do flush the fluid and bleed the system. It is also possible your 97 may have a tired cable and your looking at this wrong
lmdew
I've flushed and bleed several, all got better. My son's improved with a new hose.
roadsubiedog
thank you. the last new clutch I put in stressed out the hose and it burst. I got home by shifting w/o clutch. by hydraulics being tired, does that mean I should replace slave? i'll bleed 1st and see how that goes. thanks
