Sshac75
I bought this thing from a lil old lady, 98k and runs amazing. Body and undercarriage have issues. New England car. My thought is swap the motor into a newer model. Any idea how new I can go with this engine? If i can find a 02-05 outback or Forester, can I use this motor? Gloyale
It will bolt in but engine management willnot plug n play. You would need to swap the electronics from the newer manifold onto the old one. Possible but difficult and won't likely pass emissions inspections if you have them........won't have warm up idle either.
heartless
you would be better off trying to find a better body of the same generation (90-94) from down south or west to put that motor into. There were major wiring changes made starting in 95 that make it a difficult proposition to use 1st gen (90-94) motors in anything newer.
