What year outback struts to lift my 99 LGT?

Recommended Posts

It's the forester springs that give the extra lift over outback. The front struts are identical heights for 98-08 forester and 96-99 outback (probably 00-04 as well). The rear struts from the outback are taller from knuckle mount to spring perch by about an inch, this only applies to the 96-99 vs 98-03. I have posted pictures in a couple other threads showing the difference in these.

2000-2004 fronts work just fine but not the rears.

98-04 Forester will give you just a little more lift if you want it. front and back are bolt in.

98-02 Forester is one style. 03-08 is the same but has a higher rear spring perch. But all 98-08 will bolt in.

So just grab some 04 fozzy struts to lift?

Again, 98-08 forester struts will work, but the 98-02 have a lower rear spring perch so you can't fit as big of a tire. 03-08 have a higher rear spring perch that allows a bigger tire, or 96-99 Outback would work as well.
