auto2
I have a 06 impressa non turbo 2.5 stick that I want to rebuild an engine for.there are a few Subarus I can use for parts.I have a 97 outback that runs perfect but leaking exh into rad.and I have a 98 outback that broke a timing belt.both outbacks are in a junk yard and will be cut up for parts. Stevo F
The two Outbacks have the EJ25D DOHC engine and your Impreza should have the EJ253 SOHC. I don't believe it's an easy swap (ECU, wiring harness mods, etc...). I tiohnk a 2000+ Outback/ Legacy/ Impreza with a SOHC 2.5 would be an easier swap. Why don't you rebuild your current motor? auto2
Current engine had external antifreese leak.I got the car cheap.the sub rad stuff fixed it.car is for stepson and was thinking about having a spare engine hanging around.think there's a 2001 here also. idosubaru
properly repaired that impreza engine should last a long time. if the headgaskets start leaking again - resurface the heads, install Six Star or Turbo headgaskets and call it good. the earlier DOHC in those late 90's EJ25 are the worst blocks subaru ever made in terms of longevity, no way i'd bother rebuilding those for the impreza. auto2
Ok thanks , so the two 1998ish engines go in the aluminum bin and I'm gonna see if the 2001 starts and go from there.I can get the engine for the scrap aluminum price so it's cheap
