brsboarder
Hi all, I have a 2005 subaru legacy with a steering problem, I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose. Every time(particularly worse when just starting the car) when I turn the steering wheel either direction I get a high pitched squeel. In addition, over the last couple weeks I am getting resistance and what feel like a belt slipping when I do this. I took it to a mechanic who said it was my "steering column" and wasn't worth repairing, however I parallel park a lot, and it seems to be getting worse. Anyone know what this might be? TKFlight
Loose belt or bad belt? Worn CV's? Power steering pump maybe low on fluid, or just a bad power steering pump. Edited November 16, 2014 by TKFlight
john in KY
Install a new belt. Get it tight enough. Top off steering fluid. Problem solved.
