ragingbull
Hey there, so the new distributor I got (A1 Cardone) won't go in all the way. It sticks up about half an inch from the engine block where you screw it down. I can feel it slide into the teeth at the bottom of the shaft but it stops there. I wiggled it around a bit being careful not to turn any gears but no dice... The old distributor goes back in no problem. I compared the two and they look identical. All markings used to guide were bang on. I think some more play with the gears may be needed but I'm not sure how much I can do that without throwing the timing off.. Or there's something wrong with the part? Any thoughts gents?
rdweninger
I don't think you could move the gear on the cam just by putting the disty in. Try some engine assembly lube on the disty gear ... wiggle, lift, wiggle harder.
