My 92 loyal 4X4 conversion question

Recommended Posts

Ok you all scene my add with my four by four conversion

Was needing to know On my dual range transmission

What sending unit is for the reverse lights,

What sending unit is for the 4 wheel drive light,

And I assume the other sending unit would be for the 4 wheel drive with low light

Not sure exactly but I assume that's what it is.

Can any of you tell me which one is which

Can't quite get my words out in writing

So if any of this does not make any sense please let me know

and I can try to explain it better

Because I am trying to get my reverse lights to work and maybe figure out to get the 4 wheel drive light to work on the dash Cuz obviously going from a front wheel drive car to the dual range 4 wheel drive Transmission None of the plugs are the same so i just gotta figure it out and wire them in

I know that at the connector;

Green and Green/White are the backup lights. Making the switch feeds power to the backup lights.

Black and Black/Red? are the 4WD light. Black is ground, Black/Red? is from the ground side of the indicator light. If you ground the wire with the tracer on it, the light will lite.

If you have another 2-wire connector on the trans harness, that is for the Neutral switch. Works the same as the 4WD switch.

How many switches are on your trans, they changed over the years. 2, 3, 4?

Later model ones have the low range switch on the trans.

Is the trans in the car yet? Then my next suggestion is very easy, but still not hard as you can still get under the car.

Do you own a multimeter? Then probe across each switch individually and move all the levers around until you get continuity across the switch until you find it's function.

Then maybe you can enlighten us to the answer to your question :D

thank you that's what I was needing to know something so easy that makes sense I might be able to figure this one out thank you

Cuz I do know my 86 rx 4 wheel drive shifter has the little button for the low light on the dash to come on

But the transmission that I'm using in my loyal is Out of an 87 GL sedan and it does not have the same switches as my RX for the 4WD low light to come on so I do have a multimeter I will check it out and get back to you thank you

Okay I figured out the backup lights got those working Believe it or not the front wheel drive transmission harness worked on the four-wheel-drive transmission sending unit as in just for the sending unit for the back up lights

So that was a relatively easy fix for backup lights I have not hooked up the 4 wheel drive lights for the dash and I don't think I'm going to cuz I really don't care if it has the dummy lights on the dash for the 4 wheel drive because its kinda obvious you know when its in 4 wheel drive with a dual range transmission the positioning of the shifter is good enough for me
