mossgreen
Hi, my friend has got a 96 Lego that turns over but won't start. I'm new to working on an ej22 but proficient at ea81's. I stopped by to look at it earlier today and didn't hear the fuel pump at all so I pulled the fuel line right where it leads into the filter and turned it over. No fuel was being poured into the glass I had placed there. At any rate, what should my next steps be to further test, thanks.
Fairtax4me
Check fuses. Check for power getting to the pump. Access plate is in the trunk/ cargo floor directly behind the passenger rear seat.
mossgreen
Fuses are good. I only have a 12v testing light at the moment, if I remove the backing plate and put my ear up to it while someone turns the ignition on I should be able to hear/not hear it, Poor mans diagnostic. Anything else?
porcupine73
Right you should hear it whir for a second each time the key goes from acc to run and when cranking. If it's not some of the possible issues would be the pump itself, wiring issue, fuse, fuel pump relay, or rarely the ECU transistor that drives the relay.
