nutt7
I was doing some electrical work on my car and noticed the end of my coil was leaking oil all in the wire boot and down the wire a little...does this mean the coil is heading south? thanks, eric
northguy
I don't know if it's done, but given that it produces around 40,000 volts, I wouldn't play around with it, especially since you can replace it with an Accel Super Stock for less than $35.00. Better safe than sorry.
Partsman
noticed the end of my coil was leaking oil all in the wire boot and down the wire a little...does this mean the coil is heading south? It may be getting held up at the border right now to search the oil for contraband, but in its heart, it's ALREADY south! snowstormer
just a thought before you spend any money... does your coil have a "boot" on the end of it? i have seen 2 stock soob coils with factory boots filled with oil. i think to prevent corrosion of the ignition wiring. after removing the boot and the oil that was in it, the coils are still working after many thousands of miles. has anyone else seen this and can elaborate? MorganM
It's leaking. Replace it While you are in the area; how about wires, plugs, cap and rotor?

snowstormer
sorry if i gave you any mis-info nutt7. it was not my intent. i did not know coils are filled with oil, must be to help keep them cool? i guess i am lucky mine still works as all the oil leaked out about 20,000 miles ago. so when i do lose spark, i will know why!
