My oil pan looks like it has endured a few rally races and needs to be replaced. I was planning to get one from the junkyard, but I have been twice and haven't found one in pristine condition. The stealership wants way too much for a new one, so I looked online... I figured it has no moving parts so what could be the risk of getting a non OEM pan?

Anyone have any input on this matter?? Thanks!

Aftermarket oil pans tend to be thinner metal and have cheaper paint. If you live in an area where rust is a problem you may end up replacing it again soon.

My only experiences with aftermarket pans are for Ford and GM V8s and V6s, and they re always poor quality and suffer from frequent leaks.

Subaru pans are easier to get a good seal since the seal flange is totally flat, so you shouldnt have issues with that as long as you use good RTV.
