Linda pach
Hi. This is Linda pach. Proud owner of a 2003 Subaru Baja. Love this car and up to about a year ago, 120k miles. the car has served me well and still looks great! Lately I am having continued problems with over heating. Replaced the water pump twice, timing belt and a gasket. R & L front axles rack and pinion and new radiator. STILL over heating and now no heat during this cold winter. Anyone else experiencing this type of a problem? Dealer and mechanic keep fixing things but only for more to go wrong. What's your suggestion? Anyone? Legacy777
Hi Linda and welcome to the USMB. I moved this post to the new gen forum. Have you replaced the thermostat at all, and if you replaced it, did you replace it with a Subaru thermostat? Subarus are very finicky about non-Subaru thermostats. nipper
Which Gasket? There may be air trapped in the cooling system. Lazy shops won't fill them correctly. What gasket was replaced? And the dirty question, did the overflow tank ever overflow.
mikaleda
First, things to ask your mechanic. 1.)did they replace the thermostat with OEM Subaru 2.)when filling the system did they take the time to properly burp the system 3.) What gasket did they replace? Also when you say you have no heat, do you mean the car is running at normal operating temp and no heat is coming from the vents? The no heat could be a sighn of why its over heating, which can be caused by air being trapped in the heater core or the heatet core being clogged. Either of the above could be causing your issues.
