stu9288
Hi, I'm new to the forum. We have a '92 Loyale EA82 2 WD with manual trans. One of the 5th gears chipped a tooth and damaged both gears for 5th. These are the 2 gears--one on each shaft--that are in the tail cover. In other words these are the 2 gears that you find first before splitting the transmission cases in half. Does anyone know where we might find replacements for these 2 gears? Thanks in advance! naru
AFAIK,they are still available from Subaru, You are looking at something well north of $200 though. Try an ad in the parts wanted section of this website. IMO,it would be cheaper and simplier to buy a complete transmission.
l75eya
Parts.Subaru.com Plug in your information there. It's tricky to find the category you want but weed through all the categories and I'm sure you'll find it in there, with the price(s)
stu9288
Thanks to you both for good advice. Naru, the 2 gears from Subaru are, indeed, nearly $250 plus shipping. Not too practical for a trans with 266K miles on it. The car still does great but it's hard to spend that much--especially when we first bought the car to save it from the previous owner's intention to scrap it. 175eya, I've posted an add on the parts wanted category and had a few replies already. So far only complete transmissions from far away. Still maybe more realistic than buying 2 new gears from Subaru. Meanwhile, I've begun scrolling through other postings and still hoping to find someone who has the 2 gears we need left over from a project or catastrophic failure, etc. The real solution, as we all know, is to own a bunch of these cars! Thanks again.
