88xt6
So i bought an xt6 4 days ago and this morning i went to put on a super stock 45k volt coil and 8mm plug wires i replace piston 1, and 3 plug wires then didnt have a long enough one for piston 5 so i put the stock wires and coil back on. I didnt turn the ignition on at all while the super stock coil was on it. Now this is where it gets weird... after i put the stock wires and coil on it i started it up and number 6 plug isant sparking so i replaced the wire 3 times each time i got the same resort no spark. Please help me figure this out!
john in KY
When you say you replaced the wire 3 times, I assume that means you used 3 different wires. This eliminates the wire being the problem. Spark plug probably not the problem so my guess is a cap and/or rotor problem.
idosubaru
cap and rotor are likely. i'd run the stock coil, there's no gains and sometimes problems with aftermarket coils. but that wouldn't cause no spark at just one cylinder. 88xt6
I did put the stock coil back on last night and i wanted to make sure the rotor was still making contact with the 6th plug and it is. Should i just buy a new cap and start there?
88xt6
Installed new cap. Same problem
john in KY
If you are positive there is no problem with the #6 spark plug/plug wire, then the problem has to be within the distributor.
