But wanted to share with ya an maybe meet learn something new. Plus I like leather seats. So I recently purchased a 1999 legacy sus. For her age she cleaned up well. Problems I could find minus wear parts Trunk latch at the driver seat didn't work.(fixed) No keyless entry remotes (has black box) Misfire cyl #3(p/o installed autolite copper plugs..fixed) Egr code(cleaned and reinstalled) Airbag light is on Heated seats do not turn on The damn power antenna is crunchy.(unplugged the motor cuz I hated hearing it) Key likes to stay in the ignition sometimes.(fixed). So for the price not really a bad bargain. I must say its hard to see my gl10 sit but man do like leather. Critisism is welcome as i am new to this new of a car. It runs a ej25d if i educated properly. Wheels are off an 05 forester xt thanks to a fellow board member.

idosubaru
i like the SUS, very nice. leather is awesome - my favorite feature is that you never have to ride in a wet seat again. yes that's an EJ25D DOHC. interference engine so best to get a complete timing belt kit on them at some point. Gates kits are only $130 or so on Amazon for belt, tensioner, and three pulleys. Can be done in an hour, more for a first timer. be mindful of the headgasket issues of that engine. they randomly overheat without warning or any other symptoms. once they do overheat there's essentially nothing you can do to 'limp' them around.
ccrinc
What Gary said. Plus, I LOVE the SUS! Extra ground clearance, nice stance, bells and whistles. Nice car: I'd tap it!
marcusgl10z28
Plugs, leads, headgaskets, timing belt idlers all done.
marcusgl10z28
got the heated seats and switch lights working, lots of bad internal bulbs. That were just let go I'm assuming. Auto parts store don't seem to have them so I was going to radio shack to swap to LEDs and just stumbled upon the replacement. So no resistors.... And I honestly don't care about amp draw anyways. So those are all fixed. Now onto the bad news. I was feeling froggy and decided to dump the trans fluid cause my 2nd- 3rd shift was feeling just a little limp. I have no idea how long its been in there also. It dropped and it was brown and then black and stank of clutches... So I'm going to either kill it or bring it back by swapping this fluid out a few more times. If it dies, its getting a 5 speed. My options are rebuild the trans ($500) or 5 speed swap and other cool stuff (a lot )... Hmmm opinions??? I wanted a 5 speed but this model just never came with one. I also picked up a sohc 2.5 for a backup if and when the headgaskets go. Edited February 23, 2015 by marcusgl10z28
marcusgl10z28
Update late. ..the auto died now it's a 5 speed. And I still need a foglight. Anyone have one? And the oil pan has an annoying leak and I have a bipolar leak in the radiator.
lstevens76
A new radiator isn't that bad in price. Have you checked car-part.com for the fog light?
marcusgl10z28
Been teeter totering over the idea of gen 3 fogs. But I can't find them cheap. This next year I may be returning it to an auto. They aren't to expensive and do miss just chilling when on a drive.

OLsubedrivr
I like those wheels! What size tires are you running? I have a very stock 99 SUS in Black. The trans has an issue and the Code alarm is tied into the door remote system, so it is a pita for sure. My neighbors remotes will trigger the alarm and of course parking in crowded malls is always a likley sounding too. Here's a pic.
