ea71 vs ea81 intake manifolds

Recommended Posts

yes you just need an adapter/spacer so the weber will fit the ea81 intake. the ea71 and ea81 intake manifolds, where they bolt to the carburetor, are exactly the same, but the overall width of the ea71 intake is narrower than the ea81. i think i recall someone shortening an ea81 intake to fit an ea71, but i cant remember why they did it. you can either do a google search and find a place to purchase the adapter plate, or, if you have the tools, you could make your own. aluminum works best, but i have seen some made of plastic (cant remember the type of plastic) that worked just as well, and would be much easier to make if you dont have access to a milling machine.

anyone else confused by total of this thread ?

I hear the reasons EA71 twin carbs and manifold do not fit on EA81 is that there is more distance between heads intake centre on EA81 than EA71, so from what I read the inlet or exhaust manifolds are not interswappable.

The ideas expressed by OP likely not work from what I read

Nope.

The EA71 one is Shorter than the EA81 one.

Why a Weber doesn't fit on the one you already have?

Kind Regards.

Because the stock carb I have is a Carter-Weber and not a Hitachi. I haven't bought the new Weber yet but from what I've read on this site, the Webers need 4 mounting bolt holes on the intake, the intake I currently have only has 2. so that's why I'm looking for a different intake.

Well don't think you're going to find another intake to work man, better off just buying the weber kit and putting it on. It's expensive but extremely worth it for $300! I'm pretty sure an early carbed EA82 intake would bolt up though, maybe that's an option?

Maybe it is easier for you to obtain the Adapter plate,

and Get it Welded to your two-bolts intake, without using those bolts.

Kind Regards.
