Do any of you guys know what size rectangle tubing/ c channel I should use to make a custom frame to but leaf sprung dana 44's under my brat? Was really hoping to make the frame smaller than normal trucks, I hate the look of like a 8 inch frame under the car. Any help would be awesome

If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't do it.lol

It is less about the size, and more about your fab skills.

And I can tell you that putting leaf sprung axles sin the front of a brat/EA81 is less than desirable because of the lift you have to have to make it look right. Otherwise you have to push the axle really far forward and it gets really odd really fast.

Unless you have extensive fab time and or a myriad of fab tools, I would just put it on a frame. But actually channel and chop it to fit properly.

Both are hard projects to do right.

The only way I found after trying both of the aforementioned suggestions, was to link the axles. just saying. You have WAY more research to do if this is your main concern so far.

cheers

Would putting it on like an CJ7 frame or something really be worth it? My uncle is an engineer so he's a good reference. And my brat is a project where I can take "if you have to ask" to knowing how to

I agree with monstaru just pit it on a cj or a Zuki frame........an older Toyota could work too.

But if you are gonna go custom go with a 3 or 4 link...

Easiest would be early v8 grand Cherokee axles mid 90's. They are Dana 44's with 4 link front and rear.

4 link non triangulated front /3 in a weird way with a triangle w/ a pivot rear

We'll since you are so familiar you should have no problem figuring out what you want to do for a frame.

For the record though. The rear is a triangulated 4 link. The upper pivots are close but separate.

To look at a 3 link look at late model Isuzu trooper setup.
