Right now I'm having issues with blowing lines change the lines to new high-pressure lines but my power steering takes over my steering wheel turns full right lock and Serge is my steering wheel left right left right super fast on its own Anyone have this problem? no this problem or can tell me how to fix this problem please let me know thanks
Crazyeights
Pressure and return lines swapped? If not, try another rack.
angerthis
Pressure and return lines swapped? If not, try another rack. No the lines are not Swapped Why would you think my steering rack would be no good due to the fact it worked perfectly when I had my EA82 In the car? And I do know the pump was good because the pump was in my girlfriends car prior to me putting it in my car
Numbchux
Well, if the pump is working, and the rack is working, and the lines are hooked up correctly, than it would work.... Which line is blowing out? Sounds like you've got pressure where there shouldn't be, so either the valving in the rack is screwed up, or the lines are backwards.

If always use factory lines and never had any problem like this(either a combo of EJ upper/ea lower or just full ea lines with a little bending to mate to the EJ pump) Edited March 28, 2015 by Gloyale

angerthis
You are asking for help from people kind enough to give it to you, Why would you refuse to listen? Why did you even bother to ask? You state that the rack worked BEFORE you touched it. It is highly likely that YOU caused the problem. I have seen this MANY times! This is precisly why you NEVER START a vehicle after a steering system repair by reaching THROUGH the steering wheel. The steering wheel can slam back and forth hard enough to snap your arm. I was there when it happened and gave the tech a ride. Drop the attitude pal. Something is wrong or you wouldn't be here looking for help. Some of us actually DO know what we are talking about. First off I don't know where you think I have an attitude I know there is something wrong that is why I'm here I know what I'm doing when it comes to working on a car I know the issue with my power steering has to be an easy fix I am just overlooking something easy but I know it's not something as easy as the lines being backwards I was just simply asking if anyone has had this problem doing an EJ swap in their car So I could get some different ideas on what to look for So again I apologize for you thinking I had an attitude i never intended for any of this so my bad

Crazyeights
Please, I really am trying to help you with this I have seen this many times. It really sounds like the control valve in the rack is jammed one direction (re-directing fluid incorrectly) causing the wheel to slam back and forth. If you are absolutely positive that the lines didn't get mixed up, then it pretty much has to be inside the rack. Be careful that can really hurt you. Good Luck! Oh I realize it can hurt that's why I keep my hands well away from the steering wheel I think I'm going to custom mount my EA82 pump To fit my EJ engine And we'll see how it goes and I will update as I figure this out One other question Shortening the power steering lines to fit that won't cause any of this problem will it? Yes and as long as the lines are not mixed up

Yes and as long as the lines are not mixed up There is no reason to "custom mount the ea pump. EJ pumps work fine. In fact, Early EJ pumps are the same unit with a different reservoir. This has been done literally hundreds of times. Just get a set of unmolested lines, ditch whatever you've cobbled together, and do it the simple way that works.

All the pump does is supply pressure. EJ and EA are both just hydraulic pumps. All the valving is inside the rack, so make sure the lines are feeding it correctly. As you stated, the pump and rack were fine before, right? So, the most likely thing is the one that has changed: the lines. If the lines turn out to be okay, or the problem is still there after you fix it, then all that is left is the rack. If the wheel takes off as you say, then the pump is working fine. If it wasn't, you'd have no or weak power steering.
angerthis
Well it turns out my good pump was no good I switched it out with my EA82 to pump Switched the Poliy and tank reservoir Now it seems to work just fine I am not sure why how or what I'm just going to take It for what it is it's fixed I'm happy I am loving my little rx with an ej22 in it The car is so dang fast its un believable I better be careful so i dont get my self in trouble if you know what I mean
