archemitis
my brother has a newer golf, so he brings this magazine over called PERFORMANCE VW. its filled with pics of early to mid 80s vws all sported out. and its got new vws also. why dont we have something like this for subarus. my hatch wouold look right at home, in one of those mags. why are old subarus not held up in such high esteme as vw, toyota, mitsubishi, mazda. is it because they all have trouble breaking 100 hp? carfreak85
No. Probably because there was not much mype about the older subes as performance icons when they were introduced.
garner
I agree, it's time for a subaru perfomance/mod/tech how to magazine. Something like Sport Compact Car without all the hondas, neons, focus, etc. Well, it should be a lot cooler than SCC. SCC often has articles on old school import cars like Datsun 510's and such... Subaru is coming out with a twice a year "performance subaru magazine" It will be pretty tame and of course the motivation will be to get everyone to buy a WRX or STI. I think it could be a combination of the stuff we are doing with the old school and the new school wrx/sti guys and maybe even sandrail guys, airplane guys and vw/subaru swap guys I think the reason we don't see a magazine like this is pure numbers. There are 50 hondas on the road for each subaru......

NoahDL88
I was thinking of a similar thing, but more of a book, with all the technical specs, numbers of each model and trim line, with the basic mods, like the lift kits and rear discs, LSD and a few other things, nice with color and we could do some free advertising for PK, Mudrat and TWB, but of course it would take some time, and who would pay for the info when they can get it free, but if some money went to the USMB i'm sure some would buy it just for that. Now that i've put that out there, i'd be willing to help out to make it possible, that way we don't have newbies asking the same old questions like how can i make my hatchback with 72 hp faster. s'ko
I like the book idea. It would be good to even make something like "how to keep my subaru alive" I just tackled a CV boot swap and the first one took me 3 hours b/c I really wasn't sure what I was suppose to do and how to do it. Running into similar problems with my first rear wheel bearing swap. Simple write-ups on basic maintenance would be really helpful for newbie wrenchers. Then you could get into the more advanced topics like suspension, engine, tranny mods. just my 2 cents. BW
