Recommended Posts

I have a 95 liberty lx I've owned it for 9mths in the last couple of weeks it has been playing up as when you go to start it it will turn over for about 3-4seconds them stop there is ignition reds(dash) but after it fails to start you try starting it again &there is no solenoid click or relay clicks under dash there is ignition reds but dull & they go duller when you turn the key to start position but no starter click so we would clutch start it no problems this wouldn't happen all the time only like once a day then one night I drove down the shops and it did it so we clutched it drove for about 15mins then stopped missus got whilst car was going I left it idle for about 30 secs then switched it off with keys still in ignition then after approx 30 sec every thing shut down doors locked and a red flashing light started blinking that has never blinked before & the alarm came on which has never worked before and is now armed which I can't disarm as fob doesn't work and I have no ignition reds to manually disarm or don't I need reds to do this also after looking under dash there is thin black wire coming out of alarm module (brain) that's not connected to nothing could somebody tell me what this is for (,remote receiver/aAriel) the only power I get is the wipers/park lights back and front with park light switch / not the actually light switch on col

Sounds like a bad battery or cable corrosion.

The Alarm started working, cause the battery went dead.

There should be a small reset button under the dash coming off the alarm box, two brown wires going to an 1/8' button switch.  Put the key in, turn it on and then press and hold the button.

I'd remove the alarm.  I've seen more problems with them then the solve.  Look at the wiring, they usually only splice into a couple.  I you can remove it and restore the factory wiring I bet it solves your problem.
