SUBIEBOARDER
I drove through a drive-thru the other day and realized my driver window button didn't work. It was popped out a bit from the rest and didn't move up and down correctly, but more importantly the window didn't budge. I ended up taking the plate of the switches and saw smoke coming out of the switch when the car was turned on. I pulled a small metal piece out and the smoke ended. All good so far, but now I'm wondering what happened and if there is a fuse for the windows. Also should I junk yard this or will it just happen again? PS, I love my subie, but also the community. I have been kept busy fixing things since getting this car (without a title) but couldn't have done it without this forum and love every minute of it
lmdew
Junk yard will be fine. I've had lots of them fail, but never had one catch on fire. PS when your working on electrical stuff, its always a good idea to disconnect the negative lead from the battery.
Rooster2
Had this same switch go bad on my OBW. Driver's window would lower, but not raise up to close. I found a good one in a wrecking yard. EZ to install, all is well again.
